Roseville Youth Ukulele Orchestra

Mondays

We are thrilled to extend a warm invitation to join the Roseville Youth Ukulele Orchestra (RYUO), kicking off this September! Gather with us every Monday to experience the pure joy of playing and singing in a supportive group setting. In this exciting journey, you'll not only enhance your musical skills but also practice the art of performing while sharing your love for music with our community through live showcases. Our program is open to students from 4th grade and up, who can play basic chord transitions smoothly. If you can sight-read notes, that's a fantastic bonus, but not required. Let's create beautiful music together as the Roseville Youth Ukulele Orchestra. Come play with us!

Instructor: Dana Michaeloff
Instructor Bio: Dana is passionate music educator specializing in ukulele and guitar instruction. She has a rich musical background, spanning from her early participation in school and community choirs to her college studies in classical guitar and voice. Dana's teaching expertise encompasses a wide array of techniques, including strumming, picking, and music patterns. Her journey into the world of ukulele began when her children started lessons at the Strum Shop, leading to a family-wide love for these portable, joyful instruments. She and her family have been playing, singing and performing with ukulele groups around the area ever since. For the past decade, Dana has served as the lead music docent at her elementary school, where she recruits and trains volunteers to teach music appreciation classes. She has also brought her guitar and ukuleles into the classroom, enriching students' musical experiences. Dana and her husband are committed advocates for literacy and music education, demonstrated by their creation of the free educational website bigbrainjunction.org, which includes resources for music educators and tools like an online vocal and sound metronome for rhythm and counting. Dana's dedication extends to fostering a sense of community through music. She initiated a successful ukulele club at her school, regularly organizing performances both in-school and throughout the community. Dana's enthusiasm for sharing the joy of group playing, singing, and performing is a driving force behind the newly established Roseville Youth Ukulele Orchestra. Her extensive experience and love for music education make her a valuable asset to aspiring musicians of all ages.
