About Dani Joy:
Dani Joy is an Oregon-based singer/songwriter and ukulele instructor. Her world-influenced musical style is a soothing and romantic blend of vintage jazz with Latin rhythms. Her velvet voice will captivate you in ways you couldn't even imagine as she takes you on a musical journey from one era to the next.
Dani Joy is the daughter of beloved ukulele mentor and teacher, the late, great Stu Herried who turned the ukulele into a mainstay for the greater Sacramento Area and co-founded The Strum Shop in Roseville, California. When her dad gave Dani Joy her first ukulele, she discovered a passion she never knew she had. Who could have known that there was a whole world of endless musical possibilities that could be explored with just four simple strings? When Dani Joy began teaching at her father's music store, she jumped head first into learning music and exploring variations of finger-style techniques left over from her days of studying Classical Guitar. A naturally gifted teacher and musician, she quickly became among the most popular ukulele instructors in the area. Daniel Elliott Jr, also of the Strum Shop, describes Dani Joy as "The most gifted music instructor I have ever seen, second perhaps only to her father."
Her first fan-funded album was released in 2015 entitled “Let Me Introduce Myself” and features inventive takes on classic songs, along with a couple of originals, her first foray into songwriting. In 2020, she released her second project, "Drop-In My Flower" which features six compositions co-written with, and produced by 6-time Grammy award-winning ukulele legend Daniel Ho. In these six poetic songs, Dani and Daniel weave together vibrant lyrical imagery with ribbons of harmony, featuring impeccable accompaniment on the ukulele, piano, electric piano, and bass. Sail on a spontaneous voyage with Drop In My Flower.
Originally from Redding California, she now resides in Portland Oregon, touring as often as possible across the USA and internationally to venues and festivals across the globe.
About Perry Stauffer:
Perry Stauffer is a multi-instrumentalist who teaches and performs on bass and ukulele. He is the co-founder, along with Dani Joy, of the Starlight Ukulele Academy in Portland, Oregon, and is particularly inspired by American roots music (blues, jazz, swing, country, etc.). Perry specializes in improvisation and ensemble education, arranging instructional pieces containing bass and multiple ukulele parts.
Perry teaches at ukulele festivals and retreats in the USA and Canada. He and Dani Joy together co-produced the popular Reno-Tahoe Ukulele Festival. The two also conduct online and in-person lessons through their Starlight Ukulele Academy.
