Styles Include: World Music in general—Jewish Klezmer, Brazilian Choro, Irish, Bluegrass, Greek, Italian, French Musette, Chinese, Old Mexican melodies, American old-timey melodies, Eastern European, Gypsy, to name a few.

Mandolin Lessons Include: Individualized private lessons as per the desired goals of the students themselves, learning individual tunes, methods of learning and remembering new chords and chord progressions, smooth right hand technique, tremolo, ear training to learn music by ear, reading standard notation and/or tablature, building a repertoire of tunes and how to polish them for smooth performance, and much more.

Bio
Jon has been obsessed with the mandolin since 1979 after hearing David Grisman, Andy Statman, with Stephan Grappelli, play in the movie “King of the Gypsies.” Since then Jon has studied passionately and has spent years in various bands in the Sacramento area including: (Bluegrass) The Grace Avenue Band; The Sacramento World Music Ensemble (10 years) under the direction of Bob Wren, the world music band ECUMANIA, and the Irish bands NINE 8th’s IRISH, as well as HOOLIGANS WAKE, and THE BLACKBIRD, and has played at many Irish sessions for decades. Jon loves sharing his knowledge of the mandolin, and music from around the world, and is an exciting teacher. Jon has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Jon has been teaching for 20+ years.
