He grew up in Kailua, O'ahu during the 1950's. His mother was raised in the cane fields of Kaeleku, Maui and his father, on the beaches of Waikiki. We welcome beginners and experts alike to come join and jam with us. Our methods are very informal as we try to allow each workshop to form it's interests and needs as we go, preferring to lead our groups into playing music rather than focus on any specific techniques or the technical aspects of musicianship. However, we are happy to work individually on specific techniques and concepts one on one or in smaller section groups, but like to focus more on how to "Kanikapila", to play music together in joy and Aloha. Also, Travis Rice will be available for anyone who would like to learn more about the intricacies of playing the "Cajon".
